The Lion, the Witch and ….

I just got back from a  New Year’s party and remembered something while I was on the Metro.

A few weeks ago I went to see “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”.
It wasn’t too crowded but there were a few parents with young kids
there.  It warms the ol’ heart to see young ones being introduced to
the things that really constructively sparked my imagination when I
was a kid.

Oh.  And remind me not to see movies at Eastpoint
Mall anymore since black people can’t stay quiet during a cinematic
experience, apparently.

Anyway, there’s a scene in the movie
where the Pevensie kids first meet the beaver character named Beaver.
Now that’s casting.  Peter Pevensie is reaching out his hand as the
beaver is looking at them expectantly.  Like each of them is checking
out the other.  This little kid behind me — maybe 4 or 5 years old —
says to his mother, “Mommy, is that the warjobe?”

So cute.  He watched most of that movie looking for it, too.

Lion.  Check.  Witch.  Check.  Warjobe?  Hmmmm.

Happy New Year, America.
