Bill Kristol: Hillary’s
Category: News and Politics

Did you see Hillary Clinton’s speech the other night? It was very well done. Well written, well delivered. There was strength and grace after months of not-so-gentile campaigning. And vicious, ignorant, sexist press coverage.

Hillary threw all of her support and mustered her supporters to work for and vote for Obama.

Somehow, Kristol gets paid to be professionally inane. Spin spin spin, Mr. Kristol. But sit first.

This is astonishing.
I thought Senator Clinton’s speech was perfect – what did they want her to do, ask him to marry her?

Kudos for sharing!

I know, right?!

Sarah! Hey there, Super Mom.

He’s a think tank guy. I think you can always tell people that only spend time with and hang out with people who think like them.

They reinforce each other and they start to perceive the world according to their own rules. Then they spin everything to fit their beliefs, as they grow more extreme.

That goes for everyone, regardless of their place on the spectrum.

All of that intelligence and brain power rendered useless because their energy is spent bending and twisting reality to fit their views.

We can do better.

I actually think he’s right. But I don’t think it matters. The thing is, is Bill Clinton gave his speech the next night and drove the message home. Hillary’s speech was a warm up, and the man who is actually qualified to say whether or not someone is ready to hold the office did indeed say, point blank, that Obama is ready for this. I thought it was the perfect combination. If Hillary had said all that the night before it would have been forced and insincere. I thought the way everything played out was just right.

Hey BJ.

I can see that. It was a one-two punch. Hillary said, “Hey, my supporters, if you’re in it for our cause then vote for Barack Obama. He’s the guy you need to support.”

And Bill said, “Here’s why you should and can confidently vote for Barack.”

I still disagree with Kristol’s “shockingly minimal”, though. I mean, if by that he meant that it wasn’t enough to convince people to support Barack, I can see that. But the gist I got was that he was saying it was a half-hearted, insincere speech. (In full disclosure, I really do not like Bill Kristol but that’s another blog.)

Like you said, though.
